Superior, WI (Northland’s NewsCenter) --- High school students are working with the city of Superior to promote the importance of voting before election day.

The Red, White and You campaign has been organized by three seniors involved in Superior DECA, a marketing, finance and hospitality club.

Today, they met with Superior Mayor Bruce Hagen at the Government Center to describe their project.

They told him their goal is to increase voter turnout while educating students who are not old enough to vote about the importance of voting when they grow up.

"On Tuesday, we have mock elections in all elementary schools for students to place their votes and have the experience of what voting is like,” Courtney Oak, a senior said. “We hope that will carry on into their life."

Students hope the mock election will spark conversations about the election between students and their parents.
