Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- Police are investigating the discovery of a body in the Lincoln Park neighborhood of Duluth.

Police say a passerby alerted them to an area near 19th Avenue West and 2nd Street this afternoon.

Police have not yet identified who this person is.

Details are few and far between at this point, but we know investigators are working to identify the body.

Police responded to a brush covered area just off Highway 53 near Midtown Park just after two o'clock Tuesday afternoon.

They say the decomposed body was found along a fence line about 100 yards from the road.

A neighbor snapped pictures of the scene and told us what he saw.

"I looked out my window and started seeing cops show up. More and more. Like the investigation van, so I went outside and started taking some pictures, they were here for about three hours," said neighbor Adam Johnson.

The Medical Examiner's office is working to rule the cause and manner of death.

While investigators continue their work to identify the body, there are indications that there may be a development in a missing person case in that area.

A Facebook page dedicated to the search for 74 year old Dale Gerard, the woman missing since last summer, stated the search came to an end Tuesday.

Family members we spoke with say they aren't commenting on the case until the body discovered on Tuesday has been positively identified.

Gerard was last seen on July 20th boarding an eastbound DTA bus in the area of Elinor and Grand Avenue.
