(Northland's NewsCenter) ---.Candidate for St. Louis County Commissioner, District Five, Pete Stauber has received the endorsement of the St. Louis County Deputy Sheriff’s Association, LELS Local #288.
The Fifth District Seat is currently held by Commissioner Peg Sweeney.
The bargaining unit includes St. Louis County Deputy Sheriffs, Deputy Sheriff Investigators and Deputy Sheriff Sergeants.
Stauber is currently a Hermantown City Councilor in his 8th year or service.
Members of SLCDSA/LELS #228 say they believe Stauber’s experience as city councilor gives him critical experience as an elected official.
“Pete is a well-respected lieutenant in the Duluth Police Department, who has consistently demonstrated having values similar to the members of our association,” Dave Lovaas, President of the Deputy Sheriff’s Association said.
“Our members believe that public safety should be the number one priority of the Citizens of St. Louis County when selecting their representative to the County board. We believe Pete Stauber will provide us, the public servants who serve St. Louis County’s Citizens sound, reliable and affordable law enforcement.
After receiving the endorsement, Stauber told the unit he is grateful of the endorsement.
“I have a very special place in my heart for the men and women that put their lives on the line every day to keep our communities safe places to live, work and play,” Stauber said.
St. Louis County District Five includes Proctor, Hermantown and several adjacent townships.
