Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) - The race for Duluth City Council seats has triggered a primary election in September.

Two Council At–Large seats are up for grabs, with six candidates running for those two seats.

Candidates include Zack Filipovich, Eric Meyer, Barb Russ, Ray Sandman, Ryan Stauber, and Ray Whitledge the third.

Howie Hanson has also applied for the fourth council district against Garry Krause, who has not yet reapplied for the position.

Patrick Boyle has also reapplied for second council district seat.

The primary election will be held Tuesday, Sep. 10.

"Well assuming that we have a city wide primary, which we do now it will probably be in the 70–80,000 dollar range. It's a budgeted amount, it's an on going known factor," said Duluth City Clerk, Jeffery Cox.

The last day to apply for a council seat is Tuesday, July 16 at 4:30 p.m.
