Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) - Instead of paving paradise, the Duluth Grill is digging out their parking lot and putting up a garden.
Owner Tom Hanson says this garden is part of a five year plan for the restaurant.
Workers broke ground on Thursday carving out the parking lot where the garden will be.
Hanson hopes to also put in rain gardens around the property to help with water run off.
The parking lot garden design is called a hugel bed.
"That is a perma-culture garden that works with Nature and is developed that you can grow longer seasons and colder climates," said Hanson.
Some plants the garden will feature include apple trees, rhubarb, and apricots.
