Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com)-- A Duluth mother says she was shocked to see that a sack of play sand she purchased was filled with concrete.
Jennifer Turner bought a bag of play sand, intending to use it in her children's sandbox. After she cut it open, she noticed the fine white substance was quite different than the other bags she bought.
Turner says she called Home Depot, the store where the product was purchased, and management removed the mislabeled product from the shelves.
A spokesperson from Home Depot says that the product comes from a local vendor and the incident is isolated. They won't confirm if the substance is indeed concrete.
Turner says that after contacting the manufacture of the product, and federal regulatory agencies, she still wants to get word out, in case other families made the same purchase.
"My concern at this point is that other families who have purchased the product, which I know to be the case because of the half-empty shelf at Home Depot, take a look at their sandbox and make sure they don't have their children playing in this," said Turner, at the Duluth Heights home.
The mother of two says that Home Depot and the play sand manufacture have been accommodating to her grievances. A spokesperson from Home Depot says the company would be happy to provide a full refund.
