Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) - According to officials at Essentia Health St. Mary's Medical Center, Everett Bergren, 14, has died.

Hospital officials say Bergren died Thursday, January 3rd.

A post on his Caring Bridge site says that Bergren will be donating his organs.

"Everett was able to touch so many of our lives in his 14 years on this Earth, and will now be helping to extend the time of other lives through donation," said the post.

Bergren suffered a serious brain injury in January of last year when the vehicle he and his grandmother were in was struck by a drunk driver.

Everett's grandmother, Paula Bergren, was killed in the accident.
