Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) - The usual sure signs of spring haven't been so certain this year, but here's more evidence we may be over the cold weather hump – the Duluth Farmers' Market is open for business.

The market is in its 103rd year.

Locally grown options there range from Native American treats like wild rice and maple syrup, to the latest kick in healthy eating – micro–greens.

Lois Hoffbauer of Farmer Doug's near Proctor says the long winter led to a frantic farmer scramble to grow enough produce for opening day.

"This has been a challenging year," said Hoffbauer, "last year,we thought was bad because we had four feet of snow, but this year it's worse. I can't remember a spring quite like this one."

The Duluth Farmers' Market is located on East Third Street in Duluth.

It's open Saturdays and Wednesdays.
