St. Paul, MN (NNCNOW.com) - The Federal Government has given the green light for Minnesota to open a state health insurance exchange.
Minnesota Management and Budget received the conditional approval on Thursday from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
The Exchange will serve as a one-stop health insurance marketplace giving families the ability to choose affordable health insurance.
Officials say the program could save $1 billion every year on health care costs.
Management and Budget leaders will now work with legislators to pass a bill backing the program during the next session
Enrollment in the Minnesota health insurance exchange begins October 1, 2013.
