Fire Danger High Across Wisconsin

October 8, 2012 Updated Nov 7, 2012 at 3:48 PM CDT

Madison, WI (Northland's NewsCenter) --- The Wisconsin DNR is urging all Wisconsin residents to use caution with continued high fire danger across the state.

DNR officials say this high fire danger is due to dry, windy conditions throughout the state.

Fire officials want to remind everyone, including hunters and those driving on ATV's to use extra caution in order to prevent wildfires.

The DNR has suspended burning permits in 29 counties where the department regulates outdoor burning. Fire control staffers are on high alert.

The public is asked to avoid making a campfire, staging a debris fire or using a burn barrel during this high fire danger.

As the cooler temperatures spread statewide, DNR fire experts also urge caution with ash disposal from wood-burning fireplaces or boilers.

Here in the Northland, Douglas, Sawyer, Burnett and Washburn counties are all under high fire danger.

Bayfield, Ashland and Iron counties are under a moderate fire danger.
