One million dollar bond set for Louisiana man charged in Sawyer County shooting

Hayward, WI (NNCNOW.com) – Bail has been set at a million dollars for a Louisiana man charged with shooting his girlfriend in the head in Sawyer County.

52 year old Kerry Stevenson has been charged with felony possession of a firearm and reckless injury with a handgun.

He's being held in the Sawyer County jail.

On January 18, around 1:40 a.m., the Sawyer County Sheriff's Office was called to Ray Jay's restaurant just outside Hayward.

Police say when they got there they found Stevenson with blood on his clothing and screaming. Witnesses said Stevenson had been at the Restaurant earlier that night with his girlfriend.

Police located the man's girlfriend near Stevenson's truck, which was by Treeland's Resort in the Town of Round Lake.

The 48 year old woman from New York had been shot in the head. She was rushed to the hospital where she remains in critical condition.

The Sawyer County Sheriff's office is investigating the case.
