Grand Rapids, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- A former Minnesota Correction's Officer accused of engaging in sexual misconduct with a female inmate last year was sentenced Monday to more than five years in prison.
57-year-old James Allen Bongaarts pleaded guilty in March to two counts of criminal sexual conduct.
The charges stem from allegations that Bongaarts engaged in multiple acts of sexual misconduct over a two month period with a female inmate whil he was employed as a Corrections Officer at the Minnesota Correctional Facility in Togo.
At his hearing Monday, the court imposed the 65 month sentence, consistent with the Minnesota Sentencing guidelines.
