Madison, WI (Northland's NewsCenter) --- The Wisconsin DNR is reporting that four wolves have been killed so far in the state's first wolf hunting season since the 1950's.

The season began Monday with 1,100 hunters given permits to kill 116 wolves.

Hunters can hunt in 6 different zones across the state. Each zone has a quota for the number of wolves that can be killed. Once that quota is reached, hunting in that zone will end.

The wolf hunting season will end on February 28th.
