Glidden, Wis woman charged for allegedly embezzling over $700,000 from employer

Madison, WI (NNCNOW.com) --- A Glidden, WI woman has been charged with fraud and filing false income tax returns from her employer.

49 year old Lori Hall is charged with one count of mail fraud, one count of wire fraud and five counts of filing false income tax returns.

The indictment alleges that from 2006 to 2012, Hall devised and participated in a scheme to defraud her employer, The Lakewoods, Inc. which operates Lakewoods Resort in Cable, WI.

The indictment goes on to say that Hall, working as the Chief Financial Officer for Lakewoods, embezzled more than $702,000 from various bank accounts and used the funds for her own personal purposes such as gambling and vacation trips to Mexico and the Caribbean.

Hall is also charged with filing false U.S. Individual Income Tax Returns from 2007-2011, which under-reported her adjusted gross income.

If convicted, Hall faces a maximum penalty of 30 years in federal prison on each fraud count and a maximum penalty of three years in federal prison on each tax count.

The charges against Hall are the result of an investigation by the IRS Criminal Investigation, the Wisconsin Department of Justice, and the
Bayfield County Sheriff’s Department.
