Due to extremely cold temperatures expected to travel across the state and the shortage of propane Governor Scott Walker has declared a State of Emergency in Wisconsin.

Walker is telling Wisconsin residents to use the non-emergency number to your sheriff's office if in need of a local warming shelter. Additionally, check on loved ones especially ones who need more assistance to make sure they have a warm place to stay or call 1-866-432-8947 for propane purchasing information.

The propane shortage was caused by unusually cold temperatures, a major pipeline supplying was closed for maintenance, and a wet fall increase propane demand for grain drying.
