Itasca, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- A Grand Rapids teen must write apology letters to victims as a result of two charges related to a high speed chase last summer when he was 17–years–old.

The now 18–year–old led police on a pursuit from the town of Blackberry through Grand Rapids where authorities say the suspect attempted to run police off the road.

At a prior hearing, he pleaded guilty to fleeing a peace officer in a motor vehicle, and fourth degree driving while impaired.

Today in Itasca County Juvenile Court, he was sentenced to probation until he is 21–years–old. Any probation violations can send the teen to prison for a year and a day.

His probation includes paying $12–thousand–8–hundred dollars in restitution, putting in 71 hours of community service, writing apology letters to victims, and staying away from drugs and alcohol.
