St. Paul, MN (NNCNOW.com) -- An annual grassroots lobbying event gave Northeastern Minnesota leaders and citizens the chance to speak with lawmakers one on one Wednesday in St. Paul.
Now in it's 16th year, the annual "St. Louis County and Duluth at the Capitol" event is the financial foundation for many of our region's big construction projects.
With this year being a non-bonding year and the budget being tight, leaders asked lawmakers to keep a number of issues, important to the region, in mind for next year.
They also spent some time thanking lawmakers for their help in the wake of June's historic flood.
"Duluth is looking for some support for Wade Stadium, NorShor Theater, We're also here to say thanks in many cases for the support we've received in the past. The Duluth Airport Terminal, the DTA Multimodal transportation hub and the corporate tower at 4th West.
We'd like to say thanks to the legislators for that support," said Roger Wedin, Police and Education Director for the Duluth Chamber.
More than a hundred county and city leaders, citizens and students attended today's events.
