Duluth, MN (Northland’s NewsCenter) --- The Great Lakes Aquarium celebrated Oktoberfest, with an otter twist.

Guests at "Ottertoberfest" took pictures with otter mascots Splish and Splash; and learned more about the aquarium's river otters Zhoosh and Anang.

Otter crafts, coloring and a root beer garden were also featured.

Otters are an endangered species.

Aquarium officials say Ottertoberfest helped to educate people about the threatened animal.

"There's so many interesting things about otters and just to get that word out, some otters are highly endangered just so people know, they can take that bit away, maybe what I can do, or how can I help,” Tara Lieberg, Otter Keeper said.

Live polka music was also at today's Ottertoberfest.
