Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) - Grey Thursday officially starts at eight o'clock for some superstores such as Sears and Walmart and with Target opening its doors at nine.
Shoppers outside at Best Buy in Duluth didn't seem to mind the early start—as long as they get their hands on the hot ticket items.
The early start to the shopping season prompted more than 166 thousand Target Employees to sign a petition demanding time off for the holiday and to give thanksgiving back to families.
As for Walmart, protests have already occurred in a number of cities and some even plan to walk off the job on Black Friday.
According to the National Retail Federation, spending is projected to only be up by 4.1 percent.
Last year's projection was higher at 5.6 percent.
