Man seriously injured in snowmobile crash near Cook, MN - Condition unknown

59 year old Hollis Fritts Jr.of Excelsior, MN sustained significant injuries when he was thrown from his snowmobile attempting to avoid two oncoming snowmobiles on Arrowhead Trail.

The St. Louis County Sheriff's Office responded to the crash near the 2100 block of Vermillion Drive around 3pm Saturday.

Fritts was heading westbound and saw two other snowmobiles headed eastbound towards him. In response, Fritts swerved into a snowbank and was ejected from his snowmobile into a tree.

He was transported by ambulance to Cook Hospital and later a Duluth hospital. His condition is unknown.
