Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) - The most expensive road project in St. Louis County's history is almost finished.
The explosions along Haines Road are over and the final touches are being put on the $12 million re-do of the road from Piedmont Heights to 40th Avenue West.
Plans for the rebuild were in place before the Great Flood of 2012 did its damage to the road.
"But the flood in June did about four million dollars in damage just from Horseshoe Bent to the rail road tracks so it really accelerated the project schedule," said Steve Krasaway, a county engineer.
Haines Road is scheduled to re-open by November 1st.
