Duluth, Minn (NNCNOW.com) -- People at Hartley Nature Center are celebrating 10 years of programming at the center.
The open house focused on the past present and future of the center which opened in 2003.
In the first year more than 16,000 visitors participated in the center's programs.
For the future, the center is gearing up to start Preschool programming three days a week starting in September of 2014.
Officials say the school will meet an increased demand for early environment and nature learning programs.
"Kids are born naturalists, they are curious, they are low to the ground, they can learn a lot from being outside. If they get out early and can have positive experiences in nature, they are going to grow up connected to nature and have some life long conservation values," said Executive Director, Tom O'Rourke.
People could also take a tour of the center's nearly constructed yurt a circular structure which will be used to education.
