Hermantown, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) -- Hermantown has grown substantially over the years and community leaders are doing what they can to continue that growth.

On Tuesday night neighbors got a look at what the future might hold for the city when officials unveiled research conducted over the past year and a half.

In November of 2010, a group of Hermantown residents formed a research group to find out what people would like to see for their city long term.

Part of that model was conducting a community wide survey.
The idea is that a city is best positioned for future success if community leaders and residents have the same goals.

"We're really happy to have the public be able to come out and see what we've been working on. They've been a huge part of this and we couldn't have done it without them. We couldn't have done it without their input and now we can't do anything further without their support as well," said Lisa Nietzel, co-chair of Advance Hermantown.

Education, business, and parks and trails were among the priorities going forward.
