Hermantown, MN (NNCNOW.com) -- A 17-year-old Hermantown High School student is under investigation for allegedly attempting to conduct a traffic stop in Hermantown in the late evening hours on Friday, January 4.
Authorities say the juvenile attempted to make the traffic stop in the 3700 block of Johnson Road.
Police say they were contacted by a juvenile female motorist saying that while she was turning onto the Johnson Road from Morris Thomas Road, a tan SUV was following her. As she began to signal a turn into a driveway, the SUV activated red and blue flashing lights.
She said she slowed down as she turned into the driveway, at which time the SUV continued past her and drove further up the Johnson Road out of sight.
Further investigation led police to suspect a Hermantown High School student with a similar type of vehicle. Police were able to identify the driver, obtain an admission about the incident from him and confiscate red and blue emergency lights and a siren that were mounted in the suspect's SUV.
