Iron Range, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- Cities on the Iron Range will soon be seeing a great deal of economic growth, thanks to a $600 thousand dollar grant from the Iron Range Resources and Rehabilitation Board.

The money will go toward improvements on Highway 169 West.

The plan is to improve the area by the highway for future retail development.

Tony Sertich, commissioner of the IRRRB, says infrastructure projects, like these, are good news for construction workers in northeastern Minnesota.

"It's a great thing across the Range because we're going to be creating over 350 jobs, and for every dollar we put in it's one less dollar those cities have to put in. So the big win, the big benefit is really, in the short term construction jobs are going to be created, in the long term better economic base and future job opportunities," said Sertich.

The IRRRB will announce this grant and several others at its board meeting on Friday.
