Detroit, MI (Northland's NewsCenter) --- Honda is recalling 573,147 Accords from 2003 to 2007 due to a potential fire hazard under the hood of the car.
The recall affects Accords with the V6 engines. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the fire danger stems from the potential for power steering fluid to leak into a hot catalytic container converter which can lead to smoke and possibly fire under the hood of the car.
This recall is an expansion of a previous recall back in May when Honda recalled 2007 and 2008 Acura TL models.
Honda will notify owners of the Accords as well as dealers of this recall. Dealers will install a new heat resistant power steering hose free of charge.
