Virginia, MN (NNCNOW.com) - The importance of buying local is touted in many communities, but the IRRRB is making it easy to do so with their 'Made on the Range' website.

"The best way we can [help Iron Range businesses] is to let people know that they're there and what goods and services they have," said IRRRB Commissioner Tony Sertich.

The site lists categories of goods and services, then links to the Iron Range businesses that provide them. Since the site's launch a year ago, it has received over 50,000 hits.

"It has surpassed my expectations on how well it's been received," said Sertich of the success.

One the 336 Range businesses on the site is Dog Star Designs, a company that makes 'worry stones', which are small ceramic stones engraved with inspirational sayings.

"We've been doing this for about twenty years, it's kind of crazy," said co-owner Christine Bolstad of the business.

In the fifteen years they've been on the Range, they haven't had to worry about a lack of business.

"We have sent them out overseas to military people, but mostly we sell around the United States to therapists, church groups," said Bolstad.

Co-owner Greg Bolstad contacted the IRRRB to get the business on the 'Made on the Range' website.

"It's a perfect match for us," he said, "We'd like to be exposed more. We're like a secret back here in the woods [of Virginia] and I don't think a lot of people really do know about us."

If you're interested in adding your business to the website, visit Made on the Range.
