Infants Injured in Alcohol Related Car Crash

At approximately 6, Friday evening, Wisconsin State Patrol was alerted to a car crash on STH-70 near Triangle Lane in Burnett County.

A 38 year old Jennifer Smith from Naples, FL lost control of her 2002 Chevrolet, slid into a ditch, and crashed the car into a tree.

Three year old Malainey smith, and one month old Mason and Milo Smith, were in the back seat of the car at the time of the crash.

Both infants received life threatening injuries and were air lifted to Regions Hospital in St. Paul.

The driver of the vehicle and the three year old received non-life threatening injuries and currently reside at Spooner hospital.

Alcohol was a factor.

Assisting agencies included Burnett County Sheriff, St. Croix Tribal Fire Department, and Burnett County Highway Department.

Charges are pending and the crash is currently under investigation.
