Cloquet, MN (NNCNOW.com)-- Charges won't be filed Wednesday in connection with a three-year-old boy being left on a head start school bus for three hours in the freezing cold.
Fond du Lac Police have handed the investigation over to the Carlton County Attorney's office for possible child endangerment charges.
3-year-old Ty Stiffarm was found on a Fond du Lac Head Start Bus Monday morning. He was hospitalized for exposure to freezing temperatures and is now recovering at home.
Meanwhile, at the Family Forum Head Start Program in Superior, officials want to ensure parents that rely on bussing, that the system is safe.
"The driver counts all the kids as they get off the bus and they transfer them to the classroom teacher," said Judy Jacobson, Program Manger for Family Forum. "The teacher then recounts the children she's receiving."
The Head Start Bus produces a loud noise if a child is left on the bus.
Drivers have to fill out a form, and place it in the back of the bus after checking all the seats, ensuring an empty bus.
