Cable, WI (NNCNOW.com) --- Organizers for this weekend's Birkie Tour in Cable, WI will meet this week to discuss whether to hold the upcoming event with current trail conditions not favorable for skiing.
According to the American Birkebeiner Ski Foundation website, as of Monday, the Birkie Tour trail from Cable to Hayward has an ice base with about 1/4" of fluff snow on top.
Organizers say the trails are not "skiable" at the moment, however there is snow in the forecast this week.
Officials with the event say they will meet on Thursday to make the call about whether to hold the Birkie Tour, but say they are optimistic that the Tour will go on as scheduled on Saturday, January 19th.
