Superior, WI (Northland's NewsCenter) -- Superior's Salvation Army is unpacking their red kettles and polishing the bells for the start of the 2012 Christmas Bell Ringing campaign.
The bells will be heard ringing on November 8, in all locations throughout Superior, including all three Super One locations, Walgreens, and K-Mart.
Two kettle locations at Wal-Mart are set to begin accepting donations after Thanksgiving.
The red kettle donations are the largest fundraiser of the year for the Salvation Army which provides Thanksgiving and Christmas meals and food baskets to hundreds of families in Superior and Douglas County each year.
This year, volunteer bell ringers can sign up for shifts online . People can also call to reserve their bell ringing location and time.
More than 1400 bell ringing shifts will need to be filled by the time the bells fall silent.
Donations can also be made online by clicking on the red kettle.
The Superior Salvation Army is a United Way supported agency.
