DULUTH, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) --- A local organization is looking help from the community to house military veterans right here in the Northland.
MACV Duluth is nearly six weeks away from the completion of Duluth Veterans Place, an apartment complex in West Duluth that will have permanent and temporary housing for veterans.
The project has cost more than two point five million dollars so far, and will have 16 total apartments when finally finished.
Each living space will come with furnished with things like a bed and a couch, but will not have some of the smaller things necessary to have a higher quality of life.
"Imagine, if you can, walking into that and there's nothing else," MACV Duluth Regional Director Durbin Keeney said. "You open up the cabinets and there are no plates or glasses. You slide out a door and there's no silverware. So what we have to do now, is get everything that we need."
If you would like to help out with the Duluth Veterans Project, you can call MACV Duluth at (218) 722-8763.
