Superior, WI (NNCNOW.com) --- The suspect accused of murdering a Superior man in 2012 has pleaded not guilty in Douglas County court today.

21 year old Tiawain Johnson decided to plead not guilty to the charge of First Degree Intentional Homicide in connection with the death of Toriano Cooper.

Johnson's attorney also asked for a status conference which is set for October 25th.

Johnson was arrested in June of this year almost a year and a half after Cooper was killed outside his house.

Johnson was already in custody in Chicago on an unrelated charge when Superior Police asked for him to be held on the murder charge.
Detectives believe the shooting may have been drug related and that Cooper may have been involved in a robbery of Johnson a few weeks prior to the murder.

If convicted, Johnson could face a life sentence for Cooper's death.
