Update: Red Cross Assisting Victim of McKinley Fire

McKinley, MN (NNCNOW.COM) --- The Northland Chapter of the American Red Cross is assisting a McKinley man whose home was destroyed by a fire Sunday.

The home off 1st Street in McKinley was destroyed Sunday after a fire broke out around 8:30 p.m.

Firefighters responded to a report Monday that the fire had rekindled.

Authorities say the embers have been put out.

On Sunday night, cold temperatures and a lack of water hampered firefighter's efforts to save the McKinley home.

A lack of city water pressure required that a number of water tankers from various fire departments be called to the scene.

Sub zero temperatures also hampered fire fighting efforts.

The homeowner was not home at the time of the blaze. There were no injuries reported from the incident.

The home and a detached garage are considered a total loss. The cause of the fire in under investigation, but it is believed to be an accident.
