St. Paul, MN (NNCNOW.com) -- The state of Minnesota added over nine thousand jobs in December, according to figures released by the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development.
In addition, the state has added almost 50,700 jobs over the past year, a growth of 1.9%.
The state unemployment rate fell to a seasonally adjusted 5.5% last month, down 0.1% from 5.6% in November.
The U.S. unemployment rate last month was 7.8%.
Trade, transportation and utilities led all sectors in December, gaining almost four thousand jobs.
Other gains included business services, education and health services, manufacturing, information, government, leisure and hospitality, and financial activities.
Logging and mining held steady.
