Pine County, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- The body of a snowmobiler, who was reported missing in February after his snowmobile broke through the ice on the St. Croix River, has been found.
The Pine County Sheriff's Office received a report on April 20 around 4:30 p.m. from the Burnett County Wisconsin Sheriff's Office that two Wisconsin DNR wardens had located a body floating in the St. Croix River.
The remains were transported to the Ramsey County Medical Examiner and positively identified as the remains of James Harlan Frentress.
Frentress was reported missing on February 16, 2013 after witnesses say that he hit a large patch of open water in the St. Croix River and disappeared.
Authorities located his partially submerged snowmobile early in the investigation, but dangerous river conditions halted responders from entering the water.
The Pine County Sheriff's Office had originally planned to search for Frentress again on April 25.
