Duluth, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) A -Water Contact Not Recommended- advisory has been issued by the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) on Tuesday for Lafayette Community Club Beach, Sky Harbor Parking Lot Beach, and 20th Street / Hearding Island Canal Beach.
Elevated E. coli bacteria levels identified from samples collected at those beaches indicate the possible presence of fecal contamination.
The beaches are scheduled to be re-sampled Wednesday.
Lafayette Community Club Beach is located on the lakeside of Park Point in Duluth, near 30th Street.
Sky Harbor Parking Lot Beach is located on the harbor-side of Park Point in Duluth, at the end of Minnesota Avenue.
20th Street / Hearding Island Canal Beach is located on the harbor-side of Park Point, at 20th Street.
If anyone becomes ill after contact with beach water, contact the Minnesota Department of Health at 1-877-366-3455.
