DULUTH, MINN. --- Dozens of people gathered to celebrate the unity of students and staff from Denfeld and Central High School Tuesday afternoon.

The "Opening Night" celebration began at 4:00 at Central.

School district officials say it was an opportunity for Central and Denfeld students, parents and community members to tour Central High School and meet staff.

Denfeld students will attend Central High School this year while Denfeld is undergoing a major remodeling.

"So far I think it's gone pretty well," Central-Denfeld Site Council member Patty Langlee said. "There's been a lot of compromise, a lot of meetings. People have to be willing to give and take, and so far this summer I think that's happened. The big test will start next week."

At the beginning of next school year Denfeld will become home to students from both Denfeld and Central.

Central will be closed and offered for sale.
