Minneapolis, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) --- Prairie Seeds Academy has been disqualified from the MSHSL Class A boys' soccer tournament, and the Lycans' scheduled quaterfinal opponent, Duluth Marshall, has been given a bye into the semifinals, it was announced on Wednesday afternoon.

The decision comes after an investigation into a brawl following the Section 5A championship game revealed an ineligible player that Prairie Seeds Academy had used this entire 2012 season.

A statement released by the MSHSL on Wednesday stated that records show one of the Lycans players transferred to the school this fall but that a student online transfer form was never initiation by Prairie Seeds Academy.

The Lycans will vacate all of the team's wins from the 2012 season and will not be replaced in the state tournament, meaning Duluth Marshall will next play in the semifinal round on October 29.

The MSHSL also announced on Wednesday its decision regarding the brawl, which occured immediately following the Section 5A championship between Prairie Seeds Academy and Totino-Grace.

Five players in total will be ineligible for a minimum period of four weeks, and five other players in total will be ineligible for one game. The MSHSL had identified 12 players in total that were invovled in the altercation, but the other two will receive no further penalty at this time.

Video of the fight was shot by Channel 12 Sports, and that organization's initial report can be seen here.
