Ely, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) --- Although the Pagami Creek Fire is contained, it is still active and could reignite.
Now that the burnout is completed, crews will continue to monitor the fire and secure the fire line.
There is still a threat it could reignite, as warmer temperatures this week will mean drier fuels, which are more susceptible to ignition. The fire might burn well into the fall.
Paddlers on Lakes One and Two will continue to see crews working on maintaining and monitoring the fire. Public Safety officials will be on the lakes to help escort paddlers across portages.
The public is still advised to stay a safe distance away from the shores affected by the fire.
