Pilot Unhurt after Emergency Landing on Highway 2

Bessemer Township, MI (NNCNOW.com) - No one was hurt during an emergency plane landing early Thursday morning on US 2 in Gogebic County.

The Gogebic County Sheriff's Department says the Piper Cherokee single engine plane, piloted by Aaron Routsala of Ironwood, MI experienced engine difficulties around 4:45 a.m.

Authorities say Routsala attempted to return the plane to the Gogebic Iron County airport, but was forced to make an emergency landing on US 2 near Blackjack Road in Bessemer Township.

The plane was towed back to the airport.

The FAA is investigating the incident.
