Superior, WI (NNCNOW.com)-- Community members looking to combat poverty housing in the Twin Ports gathered at Thirsty Pagan Brewery.
The event supports the Habitat 500. A group of cyclists will embark on a five hundred mile journey in seven days around Minnesota.
The money raised will go towards remodeling a vacant home and will be sold to an income eligible family with a no interest mortgage.
"The idea is to put people into homes and give them the chance to be a part of a community and to really move themselves ahead." said Mark Fitzpatrick.
This is Fitzpatrick's second year biking Habitat 500. He and other cyclists will begin their journey on July 14th.
