St. Paul, MN (NNCNOW.com) - Better late than never.

After days of punishing weather that included temperatures in the mid-to-high 90s that significantly cut into attendance at the Minnesota State Fair, Sunday's weather proved far more friendly.

State Fair officials tweeted that Sunday's attendance shattered a single-day attendance record, with more than 236,000 people moving past the turnstiles.

The old single day attendance record of 229,943 was also set on the last Sunday of the fair two years ago.
