St. Paul, MN (NNCNOW.COM) -- Senator David Tomassoni (DFL-Virginia) has been appointed to the Division Chair of three key budget areas.
Senate Majority Leader-designate, Tom Bakk (DFL-Cook) has appointed Tomassoni to three budget areas including; Environment, Economic Development and Agriculture.
In the role, Tomassoni will oversee the budgets of the three areas.
"This upcoming legislative session will be difficult, but our caucus is committed to solving the budget deficit in a fair and bi-partisan manner," said Tomassoni. "I am honored to oversee these important budgets and look forward to rolling up my sleeves and accomplishing the building work of building consensus."
Sen. Bakk adds that Sen. Tomassoni knows how to strike the necessary balance between protecting the environment and creating good paying jobs that support families. The Economic Development budget will allow Tomassoni to work to help grown Minnesota's economy.
Sen. Tomassoni was first elected to the Minnesota House of Representatives in 1992, re-elected in 1994, 1996, and 1998.
The 2013 Legislative Session convenes on Tuesday, Jan. 8, at which time Sen. Tomassonni will officially become chair of these committees.
