Senator Amy Klobuchar is working to combat sex trafficking with some major legislation.

Klobuchar announced her plan to give prosecutors the tools to crack down on domestic minor sex trafficking at the Breaking Free Breakfast.
The bill will make Minnesota's "safe harbor" law national.

The goal is to make sure minors sold for sex aren't prosecuted as defendants, but are instead treated as victims.

Vednita Carter, the founder of Breaking Free stressed the importance of making sure victims receive the support they need...

"And we're just on the outside the victims are deep in the valley, and we have to do what we can to bring them out of the valley."

Senator Klobuchar's bill is modeled after the Safe Harbor laws recently passed in Minnesota.

The bill will help ensure all states have safe harbor laws similar to the Minnesota model.
