Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) - The City of Duluth is warning community members about the increased snow plow challenges due to today's winter storm.

The ground has become soft and wet because of the large amounts of snow and melting temperatures, causing difficulties for snow plows.

Plowing a wet and soft surface may damage the road and increase the severity of potholes.

City officials say there has already been significant damage to many alleys in Duluth.

"As we are plowing, when the roads are soft like this, or they are heaved up, our equipment—we are physically damaging the roads. Either with the weight of our equipment or with the plows themselves," Kelly Fleissner, City of Duluth Maintenance Manager, said.

City Maintenance Manager Kelly Fleissner encourages people to follow alternate parking schedules to keep cars out of the way of plows.
