Solon Springs, WI, (Northland's NewsCenter) -- Solon Springs, Wisconsin was one of the areas hit hardest by Friday night’s storms.
The storms came with no warning.
"I just happened to look out the window and one of those big pine trees behind me tipped right over and I said, "Boy we gotta get to the basement," said Roger Ringelstetter.
Lucky for Ringelstetter and his wife their house is still standing.
But that's not the case for two of their pole buildings and nearly every tree in their yard.
"You know you've built this all your life and in a second it's gone," said Ringelstetter.
Just steps away their daughter and son–in–law didn't fare out as well.
"Right over yonder is my house, or what used to be my house," said Jeff Meyer.
Meyer's house and car are gone.
But it was those minutes during the thick of it that will stay with him forever.
"I had bookcases and glass flying on me and I was down, I couldn't move and I really thought I was a gonner there for a minute," said Meyer.
Going through the ruble and collecting what's left of their belongings is being put on hold at least for now for this family as they take some time to count their blessings.
Residents are still trying to figure out whether it was an actual tornado that's to blame for the damage or if it was just straight winds.
