Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) - Voters in several city neighborhoods will head to the polls Tuesday to pick who will replace the late Steve O'Neil on the St. Louis County Board.
City Council President Patrick Boyle and former City Councilor Jim Stauber are vying for the District two spot in the special election.
The seat represents Eastern Duluth.
Both candidates appeared on Northland Voices recently and discussed the importance of community participation in not only the election but government in general.
"I think the County needs to be more open about the services that they provide. They need to have accessibly to citizens. I think planning meetings at times when citizens can attend and making sure there is accessibly for those with disabilities," said Stauber.
"We have to have more efficient government and have to have people have a voice. By doing that we need to have more evening meets. We do that for the City Council, we have to do that for the county," said Boyle.
Polls are open Tuesday from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
