Spooner, WI (NNCNOW.com) --- With Spooner Elementary School considering blocking the annual Indianhead Rifle and Pistol Club Gun Show from taking place at the school this year the group has opted to hold the event at Spooner Ice House.
Tim Brabec, a member of the Gun Club, said they had to make a decision on their venue in case the board decided to once again table the discussion about allowing the gun show in the elementary school.
Brabec says that they could not wait on the school board in case they tabled the discussion again or else it would have been too late to advertise for the gun show.
The controversy stems from concerns about holding a gun show at a school following the tragic events at Sandy Hook that took the life of 26 people, including children.
The school board had tabled the decision during its January meeting and were planning to discuss the issue during Monday's meeting.
Brabec says the IRPC is looking forward to holding the gun show on April 12th and 13th at the ice house due to the larger space. They are hoping to attract about 250 tables for the event.
Brabec also says that they will not be making a donation to the school as it has done in the past.
