Duluth, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) -- The Top Business Person of the Year Award goes to Bill Ulland. Ulland won the award at the 20th Annual Joel Labovitz Entrepreneurial Success Awards Wednesday.
Ulland also received the Entrepreneurial Innovation Award.
Ulland is the CEO of IKONICS Corporation and is an international leader in imaging technologies. IKONICS introduces, produces and processes solutions for an array of imaging markets.
IKONICS has developed game-changing technology, including its patented digital texturing technology for industrial companies.
The University of Minnesota-Duluth Chancellor Lendley Black and Joel Labovitz greeted a crowd of more than 400 people to recognize those individuals who made an economic impact in the Northland.
This is the twentieth time the entrepreneurial success awards have been announced in Duluth.
Other 2012 recipients were:
-Micro-Entrepreneur: Lakeside Gourmet - BrendaJones and Colleen Fletcher, International Falls
-Emerging Entrepreneur: Timberlake Lodge Hotel and Event Center - Mary F. Ives, Grand Rapids
-Established Entrepreneur: Duluth Grill - Jaima and Tom Hanson, Duluth
-Mature Entrepreneur: IDEA Drilling - Pam and Dick Backstrom, Virginia
Additional Recognition Awards were presented to:
-Rockie Kavajecz of Island Investments, Entrepreneurial Leadership for Entrepreneurial Achievement.
-Ron Ulseth for Entrepreneurial Leadership in Education
-Donald L. Negley for Visionary, Entrepreneurial Leadership.
